So this is first for my with this author but I've heard lots of great things about her so when I got the offer of an early read I thought I'd take the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about and I can now completely understand why she is so highly rated. What it lacks in originality is partially made up for with very likable characters and quality acting. Heath is really nothing at all as we first imagine, and as his behaviour becomes increasingly out of control, and his jealousy and paranoia increases, his actions have such a profound effect on Cleo.But now she has decided to walk away from it all – including divorcing her husband, Wallace – before her past secrets catch up with her. There is plenty of tension and suspenseful moments and some well thought out plot twists as it builds to a very good ending. My Other Husband is like a gigantic puzzle of obsession, control, secret lives, and past crimes, and I absolutely loved how the pieces slowly came together as we moved between past and present to unravel Cleo’s mindblowing past.

I loved the alternating timelines that helped build a picture of the complex relationships between the characters over the years but out of all of them I think I loved Lola the most with her witty attitude and sass. Usually, being in a library space, with the books and the atmosphere they created, acted like a shield to protect me from the excesses of being around other people.It's just that the story arc follows the exact line you expect it to and, when coupled with the disappointing ending, the film doesn't make much of an impression. My Other Husband was a long time coming, since the publication of her book The Flavours of Love I’ve been thinking a story with food and murder from another angel would be brilliant. This was a totally engrossing tale of past crimes and control, and tension and suspense are in plentiful supply.
