EC meters measure the conductivity of the nutrient solution, which is directly related to the nutrient levels in the water. The pen uses a replaceable probe to measure pH levels in soil, and the probe is calibrated to ensure accurate readings every time.

The Bluelab pH Pen is a great little hand-held device for measuring the acidity/alkalinity of your nutrient solution.
